Leadership

Collectively, BlackBox employees have more than 50 years of experience in designing, building, and managing information technology solutions for the U.S. residential mortgage market, and over 20 years of experience trading RMBS positions and managing RMBS investment funds. BlackBox consists of experts in the residential real estate and data markets, providing superior customer service in line with clients' needs and desires. BlackBox employees previously maintained tenure at Fannie Mae, Great West Life, Nomura Securities, MCI, Braddock Financial, Lehman, Alcatel-Lucent, and ING Investment Management.


Our Team

Lawrence Barnett, Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Barnett is chief operating officer and a co-founder of BlackBox. Mr. Barnett is responsible for day to day operations at BlackBox. He is well known as an expert in securitization, secondary market operations, and bond administration. Prior to his role at BlackBox, Mr. Barnett was a managing director at Appix, where he was responsible for the fixed income products and services group. Prior to Appix, Mr. Barnett spent 12 years at Fannie Mae where he was the officer in charge for secondary mortgage trading operations. At Fannie Mae, he was responsible for mortgage allocations, securities settlements, trust administration and securities accounting. Prior to Fannie Mae, Mr. Barnett spent 10 years at Nomura Securities, where he ran the middle office systems groups for fixed income and equities. Mr. Barnett completed extensive course work at the Leadership Training Institute and was a steering committee member of the Asset Managers Forum, the buy side arm of the SIFMA. His undergraduate degree is in finance from SUNY at Albany and he did his graduate work in international economics at City University in NY.

Wyck J. Brown, CFA, Chief Marketing Officer

Prior to joining BlackBox full time in 2009, Mr. Brown spent 7 years with Braddock Financial Corp., and was responsible for much of the trading and portfolio management in Braddock Financial's fund management businesses - personally overseeing the trading and management of over $500MM in hedge fund assets. The primary fund Mr. Brown was responsible for managing was ranked #1 in 2005 and #2 in 2006 in Bloomberg Markets Magazine hedge fund rankings for the fixed income category. Additionally Mr. Brown had oversight of close to $1 billion in assets backing CDOs issued by Braddock Financial. Prior to joining Braddock Financial, Mr. Brown was employed as an investment manager at Great West Life for five years, where he managed portfolios totaling $5 billion in agency and non-agency mortgaged-backed, asset-backed, and collateralized debt obligation investments. Prior to his years at Great West Life, he was a portfolio manager at ING Investment Management where he helped trade and manage $4 billion in mortgage-backed and asset-backed portfolios primarily focused on agency CMO derivatives. Prior to his investment management career, Mr. Brown spent six years developing software primarily in large-scale IBM mainframe environments. A holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, Mr. Brown received his MBA with an emphasis in finance from the University of Denver's Daniels College of Business in 1989 and a B.S. in information systems from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1986.

Dmitri Raskes, Vice President of Technology

Mr. Raskes is a technology veteran with over 15 years of hands-on software development life-cycle experience that includes diverse portfolio of commercial software products for small start-up and fortune 500 companies within telecommunications, healthcare, hospitality, and financial sectors. Mr. Raskes joined BlackBox in the summer of 2008 as the Director of eCommerce Solutions, and was responsible for architecting and development of Crystal Logic, a proprietary loan-level bond analytics software application. Mr. Raskes' extensive technology experience includes 10-year employment at Alcatel-Lucent - a fortune 500 telecommunications provider. As an Enterprise Solutions Architect and MTS at Alcatel-Lucent, Mr. Raskes developed numerous technical solutions in support of Alcatel-Lucent Fortune 500 telecommunications clients and partners. Mr. Raskes receive BSBA in Finance from the University of Denver in 1999.

Cory Lambert, Vice President of Data and Analytics

Prior to joining BlackBox, Mr. Lambert spent 4 years on the trade desk of Braddock Financial analyzing and trading non-agency RMBS. His focus there was on building dynamic collateral analytics using BBx Data, as well as integrating the data with complementary data sets. At BlackBox, Mr. Lambert concentrates on client-focused solutions that enhance the utility of BlackBox's product lines. Mr. Lambert also enhances the analytics capabilities of Crystal Logic, a sophisticated loan-level Bond Analytics software application. Mr. Lambert graduated magna cum laude from the Monfort College of Business at the University of Northern Colorado with a B.S. in Finance.

David Feiner, Business Strategy Associate

Prior to joining BlackBox in the summer of 2010, Mr. Feiner was an analyst with Braddock Holdings Company. His responsibilities with Braddock included performing due diligence, research, financial modeling, and analysis on potential acquisitions and current portfolio companies. Mr. Feiner has prior experience in many facets of real estate, including asset management, brokerage, development, and financing. At BlackBox, Mr. Feiner is responsible for project management, supervising sales and marketing initiatives, financial modeling, and many other components of the business development process. Mr. Feiner graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in May of 2009.

Scott Spittler, Senior Applications Developer

Mr. Spittler, who joined BlackBox in the summer of 2010 as a Senior Applications Developer, brings with him over a decade of experience in designing, developing, and deploying cutting-edge data visualization and decision support systems. Prior to joining BlackBox, Mr. Spittler created carrier class solutions for Fortune 500 telecommunications companies. Mr. Spittler's responsibilities at BlackBox focus on systems integration, analytics, and data visualization.

Marty Schwartz, Project Manager

Mr. Schwartz is a seasoned professional with 40 years of experience in the financial services industries, both life and health insurance and the secondary mortgage marketplace. Mr. Schwartz worked for 20 years at Washington National Insurance Company before spending 14 years at Fannie Mae, where he managed major mortgage loan processing systems including the Liquidation and Recourse system. Mr. Schwartz also spent time on the Securities Trading Operations side of Fannie Mae, where he managed the Securities Accounting and Bond Administration groups. Mr. Schwartz is currently a project manager. In that capacity he plans and manages the monthly production cycle, works with the technical staff to organize and implement enhancements to BlackBox product offerings and manages client consulting engagements. Mr. Schwartz holds a B.S. in Mathematics from Northern Illinois University.
